Welcome Appmixer 6 to the Stage with Significant UI Improvements

Appmixer is all about flexibility. To provide SaaS end customers and internal teams with a solution that offers limitless automation while remaining intuitive to use, we're introducing several primarily UI-related upgrades! đź‘Ź

đź’ˇ In this blog post, we introduce the key features of Appmixer 6. For a comprehensive overview of all the features released in version 6, including updates to the API, SDK, and automation engine, read our full release notes.

Automations and Integrations Separated

Appmixer can be used in two primary ways: embedding the automation designer to offer end customers maximum flexibility in how they automate, and providing form-like integration templates for simpler integrations. The latest update better distinguishes these two use cases in its UI by separating “Automations” and “Integrations,” and introducing new, dedicated designers for each.

In short, if you use Appmixer to pre-build integration templates for your customers, the new integration designer—located in the “Integrations” tab—now includes multiple features to streamline template creation. If you expose the automation designer to your customers or automate internal processes within your company, the “Automations” section is where you'll find all the tools you need.

‍

Easier Building of Integration Templates with the "Magic Wand" Button

The Integration Designer now features a magic wand button next to each field, allowing you to easily add any field to the integration wizard for your end-users with a simple click.

‍

Live Integration Template Preview

Curious about what your end customers will experience when interacting with an integration template within your product? Now, you can preview the template as you build it.

Test the Integration Before It Goes Live

A template preview is great, but what if you want to take it a step further and verify that the integration actually works? You can now use the new “Start Test” button. This feature allows you to interact with the integration exactly as your customers would when it's live.

Please note that this feature is available only in the “Integrations” tab.

‍

Complete Redesign of the Publishing Pop-Up

You now have more control over publishing new versions of an integration, with options to specify the audience based on scope or domain and to decide whether to retain in-progress data. This update provides enhanced flexibility when rolling out new versions of integration templates for your end customers.

New Context Menu for Automations

The Flow Manager now offers an upgraded context menu with expanded options for working with automations. Whether your customers want to clone an automation, change its preview image, or view insights and logs, it's now just two clicks away.

‍

Redefined Trigger Selector

Drag-and-drop is a popular and intuitive concept for those who love to automate. However, if your customers prefer using a traditional trigger selector in a modal-like environment, Appmixer has you covered! Now, when a new automation is created, a trigger selector automatically opens.

‍

(If “drag-and-drop-only” is your mantra, you can turn off this feature when using the SDK.)

Hint to Create a New Automation/Integration

No one likes blank pages, and neither do we. When the Flow Manager is empty, a helpful hint is displayed to guide your users or internal teams to create a new automation or integration. It’s a small addition that can have a big impact on making it easier for your customers to take their first steps.

‍

New Icons to Distinguish Between Triggers and Actions

Selecting a trigger or action just got a bit easier, thanks to new icons that indicate whether a component is a trigger or an action.

‍

Simpler Navigation to Data Modifiers

Finding the data modifiers used to feel like a bit of a scavenger hunt. Now, we’ve added a clear icon that guides your end customers directly to the data modifiers, where they can access and apply over 80 pre-built functions to alter data in real time.

Enhanced Logs in the Designer

We've upgraded logs built into the designer to ease your and your customers' troubleshooting workflows.

Built-In Logs Highlighted in the Designer

To help your customers or internal teams easily troubleshoot automations, we’ve made the built-in logs within the automation designer more prominent and accessible.

Search Easily Through Logs

We've added a search bar to the log panel allowing a full-text search in logs.

‍

Correlation ID for Easier Troubleshooting

With the introduction of a correlation ID, you can now easily search for logs associated with the same flow "run," making troubleshooting more straightforward.

‍

Expandable Logs for Better Visibility

Logs within the automation designer can now be expanded, providing more space and visibility.

‍

AuthHub – Authentication Proxy to Accelerate New Integration Delivery

Appmixer now features a central Authentication Hub, functioning as an authentication proxy, which simplifies the setup process by eliminating the need to register your own OAuth credentials with third-party services.

Were you looking for setting up credentials in the confusing account settings of all those third-party services? Who wouldn't be. 🙂

Backoffice

As you know, Backoffice is where the configuration of your Appmixer instance takes place. We've introduced a few updates to make your admin work a more pleasant experience.

Assign Custom Scope to a User

Every company manages permissions differently. We’ve anticipated this and now allow you to set a custom scope and assign it to a user.

‍

Installed Connector Version Displayed

In the connector details, you can now immediately see which connector version is currently installed on your instance.

‍There's More!

We've introduced some exciting features in Version 6, but there’s so much more! If you want to dive into the upgrades to our SDK, engine (including the introduction of garbage collectors), and API, check out our full changelog here: https://changelog.appmixer.com/version-6/6.0
